4 positions that the Saints should double dip at in the 2024 NFL Draft
Offensive / Defensive Line
I grouped both offensive and defensive lines together as they are similar in the way that everyone knows they must be addressed. These are the two positions that need to be double-dipped at the most. It is necessary to improve them if the Saints want to succeed next year.
The offensive line is undoubtedly the weakest position on this Saints roster currently. There are questions surrounding Trevor Penning, Ryan Ramczyk, and James Hurst at tackle and guard. The Saints need to find an answer to both tackle and guard. In the first round, popular draft picks such as Olu Fashanu, Taliese Fuaga, and Troy Fatanu would all dramatically help the position. However, they shouldn’t stop after just drafting one lineman, they need, at the very least, to draft two.
The defensive line is in a fairly similar position. Unlike the offensive line, the Saints did make a splash signing in free agency with the addition of Chase Young. That already helps the defensive line tremendously. They shouldn’t be done though. There is significant work that needs to be done at both defensive tackle and defensive end. The Saints lacked production last year in both rushing the quarterback and stopping the run. They need to find players who can help in both of those categories.
The Saints have put significant effort into trying to improve the trenches in the past couple of drafts. That trend shouldn’t stop this year. It is pivotal to the team’s success that they address both the defensive and offensive line. Double dipping at those positions is something that they shouldn’t hesitate to do.
