4 affordable free-agent targets for Saints this offseason
1. WR Tyler Boyd
Going back to the wide receiver position, Tyler Boyd is an affordable free agent that could have a major impact on the Saints. With Michael Thomas likely leaving the team in free agency, New Orleans will need to add to the wide receiver room. The Saints will still have Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and the promising A.T. Perry, but that won’t be enough.
Enter Tyler Boyd, who has spent his entire eight-year career with the Cincinnati Bengals. There’s no doubt that he’s a quality receiver. He has two 1000-yard seasons to his name, and has been over 600 receiving yards every season except his second year in the NFL.
In recent years, he’s been relegated to the No. 3 receiver for the Bengals, who also have Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. With all of the young talent that Cincinnati has, it was always going to be impossible to keep the core together. As Cincy’s stars get massive contracts, Boyd will likely be the one to walk.
Spotrac only projects Boyd’s next contract to be a three-year deal worth $26 million. The Saints can definitely find a way to pay Tyler Boyd $8.7 million a year. If they can sign him this offseason, he could have a major impact on the offense.
