The New Orleans Saints were 9-8 this season, a win away from the playoffs, and it was a disappointing year for the team. New Orleans must now navigate a tricky cap situation while trying to build a team that is equipped not get over the hump. The Saints have already started rebuilding the coaching staff, but eventually, they’ll have to address the roster of players.

With 22 free agents this offseason it will be no easy task deciding on who to bring back and who to let go. Saying that, here are three players that the Saints should re-sign this offseason so they won’t regress next season.

Honorable mention

Before I get into the top three players the Saints should re-sign, I wanted to give an honorable mention to Rashid Shaheed. It stands for itself that the Saints should re-sign Rashid Shaheed. He is an electric wide receiver and returner. Shaheed is an exclusive rights free agent, so the Saints will have one of the easiest decisions in keeping him. They should consider extending him to a long-term contract to secure his future in New Orleans rather than putting him on a one-year deal.

Saints should re-sign CB Isaac Yiadom

The first player that the Saints should re-sign is Isaac Yiadom. Yiadom was an extremely underrated player for the Saints last year. With Marshon Lattimore missing a substantial amount of time, Yiadom stepped up and was a great cornerback to fill in.

Yiadom was tied for fifth in the NFL this past year with 11 pass breakups. Throughout the season, he only allowed 22 receptions for 289 yards and three touchdowns, while recording one interception. Isaac Yiadom stepping up was crucial to the success of the Saint's defense. With the future of Marshon Lattimore unsure, Isaac Yiadom is someone whom the Saints should re-sign.
