2. Safety Marcus Maye

During the 2022 offseason, the Saints signed Marcus Maye to a three-year deal worth $28.5 million. He was coming off an impressive five-year stint with the New York Jets, so expectations were high for Maye in New Orleans. Unfortunately, things didn’t quite pan out for him and the Saints, so he ended up being released after just two years of the contract.

In those two years, Marcus Maye only played in 17 total games, 10 in the first year and seven in the second. In those games he recorded 97 total tackles, three for a loss, one sack, one forced fumble, and two interceptions. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for New Orleans to keep him around for another year and payout his contract.

The Saints are expected to roll with the younger Jordan Howden, who had a promising rookie season last year, and Maye, who recently turned 31 years old, will find another team. There have been reports that the Tennessee Titans are interested in Marcus Maye, but nothing has happened between Maye and Tennessee yet.
