3 bold predictions for Saints in Week 5 against Chiefs
The Naw Orleans Saints are in desperate need of a get-right game, after losing in their last two outings. Unfortunately, the next team on the schedule is far from a get-right opponent. The Saints are playing the Kansas City Chiefs, who are the defending back-to-back champions, and currently 4-0 this season. If things weren’t tough enough, this game is on the road, at Arrowhead Stadium.
Luckily, this is the NFL. Once the two teams go on the field, nothing else matters except who makes the necessary plays to win on that given day. Based on how both teams are playing entering the game, we could be in for some big surprises.
Let’s take a look at a few bold predictions for the Week 5 matchup between New Orleans and Kansas City.
3. Chris Olave will have the best game of his career
Chris Olave has come alive over the last three weeks, and everything looks extremely easy for him right now. On the season, he has 20 receptions for 265 yards and one touchdown. He has only been targeted 24 times, but whenever the ball comes his way, he has clear separation from defenders.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs have been good against the run, but have been allowing receivers some success. In Week 4, Los Angeles Chargers rookie Ladd McConkey caught five passes for 67 yards and a touchdown. In Week 3, Drake London and Darnell Mooney had 67 and 66 yards.
While those aren’t explosive numbers, Olave is better than all three of those receivers, and is playing in a better offense. If New Orleans has to turn to the passing game, Olave could surpass his career high of 147 receiving yards in a single game.
2. Saints will give the Chiefs their first loss of the season
It’s easy to look at Kansas City’s 4-0 record, and the team’s status as back-to-back champions, and assume the Chiefs are just rolling through everyone. However, that’s far from reality. Kansas City has played in all one-score games this season, finding a way to win in the end. While that speaks to the team’s championship experience, New Orleans will be playing a vulnerable team that’s due for a loss.
While the Saints are 2-2, they’ve played some good football this season. Unlike the Chiefs, though, New Orleans is terrible in one-score games. If the Saints can jump on Kansas City early, they should be able to pull out a win.
1. Saints defense won’t give up a touchdown for the second straight week
One thing that was disappointing about New Orleans’ Week 4 loss was the fact that the defense didn’t give up a single touchdown. They did give up four field goals, but the Falcons scored more points (14) against New Orleans’ offense and special teams.
Although it was ultimately a losing effort, the Saints should be able to build on that performance, and have another dominant week. New Orleans has limited opposing teams’ scoring all season, and while the Chiefs are typically a good offense, things haven’t been that smooth yet this season.
Kansas City scored 17 points a week ago, and 22 points two weeks ago. That’s four total touchdowns in the last two weeks. The Saints are definitely capable of a statement performance, keeping them out the end zone.
