PFF's Dalton Wasserman ranked the landing destinations of 2025 rookie quarterbacks. Wasserman had Tyler Shough at second, just trailing Jaxson Dart and the Giants. They note the positives of landing with New Orleans while stating some concerns that surround the team.

PFF ranked Dart at first largely because he won’t have to start right away and has time to develop. This differs from Shough as he’s given the opportunity to compete for a starting role day one. Spencer Rattler is the biggest competition for the rookie to start week one. Although Rattler has impressed at OTA’s, Shough still has the inside path to the job.

The fact that Kellen Moore invested a second round pick, the second highest selection of a quarterback in Saints history, means that they love the rookie. Shough has also made some impressive plays at OTA’s. There is still a ton of time until week one, but Shough is in line to start.

Another positive that PFF brings up is the Saints receiving corps. Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed and Brandin Cooks as the top three targets is a great situation for a rookie quarterback. They have ample speed; the only thing they are missing is an established big body, contested catch receiver. However, second year receiver Bub Means could step into that role depending on his development this offseason.

One worrisome area that they bring up is the Saints offensive line. They include how Kevin Banks will help the group, but mention how they finished dead last in PFF’s pass blocking grade. This is a valid concern as the Saints offensive line was shaky in 2024, however, that was amplified by injuries. They only had six games last year where their whole starting group were all healthy. Taliese Fuaga and Trevor Penning were the only players to start every game. The Saints offensive line could improve drastically in 2025 if they can stay on the field.

Tyler Shough being ranked second on PFF’s best landing spot for rookie quarterbacks shows the impact he could have on the team. There are obviously some concerns, but the positives the Saints offer outweigh the negatives. Time will tell how the selection ages.
