The New Orleans Saints have a very unique weapon in Taysom Hill. He can run, he can catch, and he can pass. Throughout his time in New Orleans, the team has used him like no other team in the league uses a player. That was on full display in the first half of the Week 11 game against the Cleveland Browns.

Hill ran the ball two times for nine yards and a touchdown, caught seven passes for 36 yards, completed a pass for 18 yards, and also returned a kick 42 yards. Unfortunately, Hill also had two costly turnovers, throwing an interception, and fumbling the ball in the red zone.

With those two plays impacting the first half of the game, Hill was a topic of conversation at halftime for FOX’s studio panel. During the discussion, NFL legend Michael Strahan gave some brutal advice to Hill and the Saints. While the group was discussing when the do-it-all weapon should pass, Strahan said “Hill’s best throws are when he just runs it.”

Michael Strahan doesn’t want to see Taysom Hill throwing for the Saints anymore

Strahan kind of has a point; Hill is definitely more dangerous when he’s running the ball. He’s effective as a passer in wildcat situations. That was evident on the pass he completed, where there was some trickery involved. However, his interception came on the first drive of a series, when he took a snap from under center ad dropped straight back.

That’s unnecessary for New Orleans to use him that way. Having him throw the ball on trick plays, likely to wide open receivers, makes sense. There’s no sense in just having him in as a traditional quarterback with Derek Carr healthy.

However, Hill and the Saints are unlikely to hear the words of Michael Strahan, and they’ll keep using the veteran weapon however they want.
