It's probably best to approach the next hours with a healthy dose of skepticism. In fact, if you wanted to just go ahead and not believe anything you see on the internet between now and the end of tonight's first round, that's probably for the best. In fact, if you wanted to just go ahead and never believe anything on the internet, that's probably smart too.

Otherwise, you'll get suckered into thinking things like "the Saints are going to draft Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart with the ninth overall pick." You know, the same Jaxson Dart who has been in, like, 3% of first round mocks for the last six months. The same Jaxson Dart who's been widely considered the 3rd or 4th-best QB in bad QB draft class. That Jaxson Dart!
But according to CBS Sports' Aditi Kinkhabwala, that's what could happen. Kinkhabwala was reporting on the latest gossip she's been hearing this morning, and had an interesting-if-not-slightly-terrifying nugget about Dart, the first round, and the New Orleans Saints.
The pre-draft Jaxson Dart-Saints noise is getting louder by the minute
"What I'm being told is that Jaxson Dart is not going to fall beyond that number nine pick and the Saints," she said. "Someone could potentially go above the Saints to try and go get him, but that's not what I'm hearing right now. That is a pick that Kellen Moore really likes."
Gonna be a long day. Dart's risen enough in mocks over the last month for me to believe that he might be a first-rounder – teams get weird about QBs – but *ninth*? Like, the ninth pick in the whole draft?! Like, Jaxson Dart is going to be the ninth pick in the whole draft? I'm sorry for how ineloquent this blog is, but I simply cannot wrap my head around Dart going somewhere in the top 10. And the way she phrases it makes it sound like he could go before the Saints.
At the risk of having this blog age terribly: I don't believe this at all. If this report surfaced sometime in the last month, maybe, but eight hours before the first round starts? Not buying it. Some front office is having a good laugh at all of us right now. But the good news is that if the Saints actually do take Dart tonight, we can laugh right back.
