It was announced on Wednesday that May 8 will be 'Cam Jordan Day' in New Orleans. On Thursday, the first 'Cam Jordan Day,' there'll be a commencement starting at 9:00 a.m, with an announcement at city hall followed by a special event.
Jordan has been a franchise cornerstone ever since joining the team in the 2011 NFL Draft. He is the all-time sacks leader for the Saints with 121.5. In addition, he’s made eight pro bowls, including a six-year streak from 2017-2022. Jordan’s leadership in the locker room is unmatched as he’s been a captain ten different times.
It’s rare to find a game that Jordan hasn’t been on the field. He has only missed two games in 14 year career. He did everything in his power to play in those games as well, just COVID-19 protocols and a fractured bone near his eye kept him out.
Everyone knows how productive Jordan has been for the Saints. But, it’s what he does while away from the team that makes him an icon in New Orleans. He founded his own foundation to help the youth community in New Orleans. His mission statement clearly defines his goals for the Jordan Foundation.
“Cam Jordan aims to positively impact children’s lives and improve the community through resources, youth development initiatives, and innovative experiences”.
He often holds football camps to get the youth involved. In addition, he regularly makes appearances in schools and events to help spread positivity to the community. Jordan is now funding his own scholarship to help give back to the community and send kids in Louisiana to college.
The Saints struck gold both on and off the field in the 2011 Draft when they selected Cameron Jordan. He is getting his recognition with May 8 now being known as 'Cam Jordan Day' in New Orleans.
