Marshon Lattimore’s first game playing since being traded to the Washington Commanders will fittingly be against the New Orleans Saints.

At the trade deadline, the New Orleans Saints traded Marshon Lattimore to the Washington Commanders. It marked the end of an era for one of the best players in franchise history, who dominated with the team from the moment he was drafted in 2017. However, it was a trade that made sense for both teams. New Orleans was headed towards a rebuild, and the Commanders had surprisingly emerged as a contender.

While the trade was good for both sides, Lattimore hasn’t played a snap for the Commanders yet. In fact, the star corner hasn’t played in a game since Week 8, when the Saints played the Los Angeles Chargers. In that game, the veteran corner re-aggravated a hamstring injury that he had been dealing with all season.

Since being traded to Washington, he hasn’t practiced or played with his new team, but that’s all changing as his team prepares to come to New Orleans. Lattimore is expected to make his Commanders debut on Sunday, when they come and play the Saints in Week 15.

Marshon Lattimore expected to play in Week 15 vs. Saints

Washington head coach Dan Quinn recently revealed that the veteran corner passed all his progress tests before the team’s Week 14 bye, so he definitely should be ready to go with an extra week under his belt. That sets up the special moment of his next chapter starting in the place his last chapter unfolded.

In New Orleans, where Lattimore played for seven and half years, he started all 97 games that he played in, recording 15 interceptions for 145 yards and two touchdowns, 88 pass deflections, five forced fumbles, and 405 tackles. He also won Defensive Rookie of the Year and went to four Pro Bowls.

He’s undoubtedly a franchise legend, and a fan favorite, so he’ll likely get a great reception in his return on Sunday. Saints fans will just have to remember not to cheer if he makes a play.
