Rich Eisen and draft analyst Todd McShay discussed how the New York Giants approach the NFL Draft with two picks in the top-10, and the New Orleans Saints found their way into the conversation twice. They were mentioned as both an obstacle to Jordyn Tyson and a potential trade partner at 5. The only thing that's clear is the fifth overall pick will greatly impact the Saints' strategy on Thursday.

McShay ran through a hypothetical situation where Arvelle Reese or David Bailey drops to 5. Your phone is going to be ringing. It's going to be the Saints calling. You're telling me Mickey Loomis is going to see an EDGE get to 5 and not want to go (flying up sound effect) for Brandon Staley's defensive system and how important that EDGE is." McShay stated. It's almost impossible to believe the Saints won't at least make those calls.

The tricky thing about the Giants is they have picks 5 and 10, but it's doubtful they get both of their guys, especially if their guys are Tyson and Sonny Styles. The word is they don't want Styles, but this is the time for smokescreens. McShay sees 7 as the floor for Styles, so the Giants will have to grab him at 5 if they want him.

The Giants could determine what wide receiver the Saints draft.

Maybe the most interesting note from McShay's analysis is how starkly different the wide receiver conversation is between Tyson and Carnell Tate. If the Saints want Tate, it doesn't sound like the Giants will stand in their way. If the Giants want Tyson, the Saints are a direct obstacle to him dropping to 10.

The conversation started with a question about Tate but it quickly shifted to Tyson, with the whispers that he's the Giants preferred receiver. "I know you can get Tyson at 5. I don't think you can get him at 10," McShay said. That's a double down on his earlier statement of "if that's real with Jordyn Tyson, you can't wait until 10 because Tyson could go at 8 to the Saints."

McShay later came back around to the initial question of where does Tate go. He sees the Saints as the first landing spot for the Ohio State product. It's clear McShay sees the Saints as a major player for a wide receiver at 8 and believes they'd be satisfied with either Tyson or Tate.

Who falls to the Saints could be dependent on what the Giants do. This conversation doesn't even equate for the fact Caleb Downs could be in play for the Giants as well. That's yet another Saints target who could be taken off the board for the Saints.

The best case scenario is the Giants taking Sonny Styles. It leaves Downs on the board and keeps the top two receivers on the board. There's a world where the Giants take one receiver and the Commanders take another at 7 leaving neither on the board for the Saints.
