New Orleans Saints running back Kendre Miller is entering the last year of his rookie contract with an intense amount of expectation. But because he's still recovering from a season-ending injury, there's a chance that he might not even be ready for the start of training camp.

Due to the timing of the injury, Miller might not be ready for the beginning of training camp, which kicks off on July 29. He's been a limited participant in the offseason training activities and the minicamps, but that still might not be enough of an indicator as to whether he'll be a full go later this month. An ACL tear can take up to 12 months to recover from, and he suffered this just over nine months ago.

Despite his injuries, however, there is no denying Miller talent when he makes it to the field. Always managing to make a highlight play or two, he has never caused anybody to doubt his talent. It's like watching a young Alvin Kamara when Miller plays, but his injuries have caused his reliability to be one of the biggest question marks on the team. He has to prove that he can be relied upon for the regular season, and that's just something he hasn't done yet.

Saints' RB Kendre Miller's injuries have caused his roster spot to be in question

What's more, is that due to all of Kendre Miller's injuries, the playing field for the back of the running back room has effectively been leveled. Not good news, if you're a fan of his. Although, if you're a fan of Devin Neal or Audric Estime, then you'd be in luck.

When Miller tore his ACL, the New Orleans Saints had Neal and Estime take the bulk of his snaps. Thanks to that said playing time, the two young half backs are the main competition for him. They also might cost him a spot on the roster, depending on when he returns to 100% participation, because someone needs to fill that RB3 spot. Might as well be the guys who are actually able to make it through most of the season.

The 2026 training camp really is a make-it-or-break-it kind of situation for the former third-round pick. A huge hill to climb, it's one that could get even bigger if he isn't ready by the July 29 start date.

If Miller is again a limited participant when that date comes to pass, then his spot on the roster has to come into question and brings in the possibility that he could be traded. Miller is someone who is unlikely to pass through waivers, so if it gets obvious that a fresh start is needed, then a trade might be the thing to do.
