The New Orleans Saints surprisingly drafted Bryce Lane three rounds after Jordyn Tyson with their first pick. If Tyson wasn't proof of Kellen Moore being the loudest voice in the room, the Lance pick removes all doubt. Over the course of the offseason, Tyler Shough went from having the deck stacked against him to having a stacked cast around him.

Doubling up at wide receiver isn't a surprise at all. Coming into the draft, it was a move I advocated for. After picking Tyson in the first round, though, coming back with a receiver in the fourth round was unexpected. It was about a round or two earlier than you thought they would make this move.

Kellen Moore is placing a premium on Saints stockpiling wide receivers

Offense. Offense. Offense. And when you think they're going to pick a defensive player, the Saints come back with more offense.

Lance is the second wide receiver the Saints have drafted this year, so the days of treating wide receiver like an afterthought are clearly a thing of the past. The level of investment in receiver strictly since Moore has arrived is stunning.

The Saints traded away this year's fourth round pick and next year's seventh round pick to acquire Devaughn Vele. Understanding Ja'Lynn Polk was going to sit out for a season, they still traded away late round capital from year's later to snag him. It was a small investment but it showed a desire to bolster the room.

After seeing last year's unit, the Saints clearly still had some investing to do. Tyson in the first round and now Lance in the fourth round puts the Saints in position to be potentially five deep at wide receiver going into next season. The emphasis on pass catchers grows even more with the addition of Oscar Delp in the third round.

After seeing what Tyler Shough had to throw to at the end of the season, Moore clearly saw enough. He saw enough from Shough to stamp him as the guy, hence all the offensive-centric additions this offseason. Moore also saw enough of a bare cupboard at wide receiver. He's succesfully changing the optics of the room.
