Despite having missed the playoffs for five straight seasons, the vibes are high and people are optimistic about the New Orleans Saints. It might only be his second year on the job, but head coach Kellen Moore is the key contributor to that.

Moore has already started reshaping the Saints' culture. From bowling to community service, it’s something that he’s been doing since his first day in the building. What’s more is that players say it actually helps build chemistry. At least, he’s certainly got his potential franchise quarterback loving it.

Tyler Shough was emphasizing at the latest bonding activity that it’s important to get to know guys off the field. “It’s been amazing,” Second-year QB Tyler Shough said to the media. “You got every different position from all of our different SWAT groups. You've got guys from all kinds of backgrounds, veterans and rookies. It makes it fun. You know, it’s also a long offseason; it’s a long season, so the closer you are together, the more chance you have at success.”

Saints’ HC Kellen Moore isn’t just going bowling for the sake of it

To some, it might seem odd, but Kellen Moore isn’t doing the lighthearted activities just for fun. The young coach emphasized earlier this month that they do it because it helps them compete in everything that they do.

"When we get to training camp, it's going to get busy," Moore told the media. “There's going to be a lot of football, and that's where the physical component of our game really gets tested. So we've got to take advantage of that opportunity, but this is a great opportunity to connect. I think any time you get a chance to connect or do something for the common good of the group or an organization, it's a great opportunity. These are awesome.

A locker room this tight-knit will be able to weather any storm. Just look at last year, when the vibes were still good despite a 1-7 start. However, while the bonding is nice, it’s time to show it can lead to production on the field. 2026 will be the real test of whether Moore’s philosophy turns into W’s. Although if last year's late-season surge was any indication, the foundation is already there.
