Jeremiyah Love is a fan favorite in the upcoming NFL Draft, but it's not just the fans who would like Love to land with the New Orleans Saints. Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report views Kellen Moore as the reason the Saints are the perfect landing spot for Love.
Sobleski explains that Moore's ability to coach around an elite running back is a big reason as to why. “He (Moore) earned his current position as Saints head coach after serving as the Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator,” Spobleski states. “Specifically, his lone season at the helm turned into the greatest single year by an NFL running back, when Saquon ran for the most yards ever, including the playoffs. Moore understands how to build his scheme around an elite running back’s skill set.”
Soblenski also brings up the idea of Alvin Kamara being a mentor for the Notre Dame running back, saying that the standards he has set for modern backs are what make him the ideal guy for that position. Any way you look at it Love will most likely bring a ton of excitement to the offense.
Jeremiyiah Love is too good of a prospect for the Saints to pass up
If Jeremiyiah Love does end up being available when the Saints' pick rolls around, New Orleans should be running up to send their pick in. His skill set alone is enough of a reason, even if the Saints themselves didn't have a need for another halfback, which they do. Alvin Kamara isn't getting younger, and there is no sure thing behind him on the depth chart.
In 2025, Love was a Heisman finalist and Doak Walker award winner after gathering 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns on 199 rushing attempts. Those 18 rushing touchdowns tie a school record, one that was set by current Saints running back Audric Estime back in 2023, but Love also had three receiving touchdowns during the season, bringing his total touchdown count to 21. That's ties an even older record set by Jerome "The Bus" Bettis in 1991.
There are plenty of teams who are also vying for Love (looking at you, Arizona). However, the most notable is the Kansas City Chiefs, who sit right behind the Saints in the draft order. They're a team who will want to get right back to the championship games after missing the playoffs this past season, and Love could easily help them do that.
That's why if he's there at eight, the Saints should take him and not look back.
