It won't come to anyone's surprise if Taysom Hill doesn't suit up for anyone, let alone the New Orleans Saints, in 2026. Evaluating the situation would tell you re-signing with the Saints is unlikely, and Kellen Moore has done everything but say Hill isn't coming back.

Seeing that Moore would never say that verbatim, his comments over the two days of mandatory minicamp were more than enough to get the message through. Taysom Hill is not a currently a part of this team, and the odds of that changing are slim to none.

On Tuesday, Moore declared, "we haven't necessarily had any conversations up to this point." We're in June. If the two sides haven't had a conversation up to this point, it's hard to imagine anything being the catalyst for change this far in the offseason.

Kellen Moore, Saints planning for life without Taysom Hill

After his comments on Day 1, Moore was asked about Hill again on the second day of minicamp. This time, he said, “he does everything. Fullback, tight end, (he has) played a lot of different roles, and guys are going to have opportunities to jump to the next step.”

The Saints and Hill haven't had any conversations about a reunion, and Moore is laying out how to replace Hill. The organization rightfully has too much respect for Hill to make him look bad. However, it's obvious his days with the Saints are over. It wouldn't be surprising to hear a retirement announcement before training camp.

Moore is correct, as well. The Saints are going to have to take a multiple player approach to replacing Hill. He just plays too many positions, and there isn't a one player replacement for that type of role. We've already laid out how Devin Neal can be an important part of replacing Hill's production.

The late round pick from 2025 makes sense as the Saints next short yardage runner. That was a role Hill occupied for years. Neal's bigger frame in comparison to others in the room makes him a potential replacement in that role. The Saints brought in Noah Fant and Oscar Delp this offseason to supplement Hill's role as a tight end.

Hill has done a lot in his Saints career, but the Saints have some options to step into those roles. Moore made it clear they need and have the personnel to do it.
