The words "hot seat" were never uttered by Gayle Benson, but the sentiment was clear. If results don't come soon, the New Orleans Saints will be looking for a new head coach in the near future. Kellen Moore fielded questions about it Wednesday, and he understands where Benson is coming from.

One thing that was interesting is Moore wouldn't say he'd look into the team's approach to games, instead focusing on just winning them. Yes, winning is the ultimate goal, but Benson stressed preparation heavily in her speech. Preparation is a determining catalyst for the goal, and it's odd that Moore wouldn't speak to looking into it after her comments and he, himself, pointed preparation out as an issue.

In a results business, Kellen Moore hasn't brought enough results to the Saints

It does feel a bit unfortunate that all of Moore's good will is gone. It wasn't too long ago that he was finishing the season on a 4-1 stretch, found the quarterback of the future and the team inspired widespread belief in the fan base.

Then, the 2026 season started, and the script flipped. After finishing 4-1, they've started 1-4, and the hope disappeared as swiftly as it rose. In addition to being a results business, it's a what have you done for me lately business.

Lately, Moore hasn't brought the success the fan base or owner is looking for. It's impossible to call it even as well, despite it being a .500 record in this stretch, because the weight of the moments in 2026 have simply been heavier.

There isn't a game that held as much weight as playing the Falcons on Monday Night Football in the 20th anniversary of the Domecoming. Let's call that a special occasion and an outlier and strip away the pageantry around the game. The way the Saints played was deplorable and was one of the worst games they've played under Moore, and it carried over into the following week.

The Saints' game against the Vikings is arguably the most flat we've seen them in these past two seasons, let alone 10 games. Coming off the heels of being embarrassed by the Falcons, the performance screamed of a lack of pride.

The win over Baltimore is probably the positive equivalent of the 4th quarter collapse against Raiders, but even then the cumilative weight of the losses still outweigh the positive that we saw late last year and in the first two games of the season.

Moore understands Benson's feelings because it's a results business. There's no doubt the results haven't been enough. He can downplay it, but it's hard to imagine Moore doesn't feel the urgency to find those results quickly after Benson's comments.
