One of the biggest concerns following the New Orleans Saints loss against the Atlanta Falcons was the health of Alvin Kamara. He left the game after being awkwardly tackled by former Saint Kaden Elliss in the first quarter. Luckily, he avoided a long-term injury and should return sometime this season, per per NewOrleans.Football's Nick Underhill.

“Alvin Kamara has an MCL sprain, according to a source. Avoided a major injury, but we’ll see how it progresses. He could take a little time, but nothing that’s super serious or threatening long term. Hard to know how long. Alvin and his team often beat timelines.”

Kamara being absent is a major loss for the Saints. He leads the team with 471 rushing yards and has another 186 as a receiver. Now, the lead back title shifts to Devin Neal with Kamara sidelined and Kendre Miller out for the season.

It may be time for Alvin Kamara to think about calling it quits after the season

Injuries are starting to pile up for Alvin Kamara. It's his first injury of the season that'll force him to miss time, but it is far from a one injury issue. Last year, he missed the end of the year with a groin injury that kept him out of multiple games. Kamara has also been a constant presence on the injury report this season as well.

It hasn't resulted in any missed games, but it's something to note. It's especially concerning when you are dealing with an aging player. Running backs tend to get an expiration date of 30 years old. At that point, most teams cast them off. Kamara turned 30 in July.

This doesn't mean the Saints are going to release Kamara, but these injuries stacking up late in his career may push Kamara to think about calling it quits permanently. He's made it clear he doesn't want to play anywhere else, and with all he's done, it would feel much better for Kamara to make that call for himself.

The Saints legend doesn't look like the same version of himself. H's still a capable back but not the game changer he once was. That's expected at his age, but questions about his future come in when that dip is partnered with nagging injuries.
