Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson hosted a private workout on Friday, April 17 to showcase his health and skillset for 18 NFL teams, including the New Orleans Saints. It was truly more health than anything else. Tyson’s evaluation throughout the pre-draft process has been murky due to a lingering hamstring issue that’s kept him off the field. This was his chance to showcase that he hasn’t lost a step and warrants a high pick.

Tyson passed the test with flying colors. Per ESPN's Pete Thamel, at least one team walked away thouroughly impressed by Tyson. A source told Thamel, "(Tyson) showed the twitch, explosiveness and leaping ability we all saw in the fall. He showed he's healthy and still explosive, which is all he needed to do.”

In other words, "Tyson is exactly who we thought he was, and that's all we wanted to see." He is arguably the most dynamic receiver in the draft when healthy. He’s a well-rounded prospect and someone that an offense can be built upon. His workout was key to showing teams that he’s still a game-changing player, despite his injury, and Thamel's source likely isn't the only one who walked away with that conclusion.

Jordyn Tyson is a frontrunner for the Saints’ selection at pick 8

Tyson was an afterthought at pick eight a few weeks ago; however, he’s quickly climbing up draft boards. He’s not merely an option in round one, but a target. His elite route running, superb athleticism, and fit in the Saints offense make him a perfect selection.

Tyson’s the best route runner in the class. He’s efficient in and out of cuts, hardly losing any speed, and expertly stems defenders to create instant separation. This, paired with his blazing speed and explosiveness makes him a nightmare to defend, especially if he’s paired with another elite option like Chris Olave.

Overall, Jordyn Tyson is a risky selection because of his lengthy injury history, but his performance at his private workout should make fans optimistic about his future. Tyson would pair perfectly with Chris Olave to create a dynamic tandem for the foreseeable future. Fans may have their eyes elsewhere, but don't be surprised if the Saints pick Tyson over your favorite prospect. He's that good.
