New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough burst onto the national scene during the back half of the 2025 season. His elite performance resulted in a runner-up finish in the Offensive Rookie of the Year race. Now, Shough must go from a rookie sensation to a star in the league. Shough tallied 2,384 yards and 10 touchdowns in his limited opportunities last season. This play translated to wins, as the Saints boasted a 5-4 record while he was under center. It’s clear that the front office believes Shough can be the long-term solution. As a result, they must build the roster around him.
Because of this, Saints’ fans were relieved when Kellen Moore and company put a major emphasis on supplying the second-year quarterback with weapons. They signed Travis Etienne Jr. and David Edwards, then added a trio of receivers during the draft. All of these players will help elevate the offense but none more than Tyson.

Beyond that, Tyson’s prowess as a route runner helps him create consistent separation, making Shough’s job easy. This, paired with his superb athleticism, gives the young quarterback a reliable option. Tyson will complement the other receivers already in-house extremely well and create a variety of options Shough can utilize.
The front office did its job this offseason. Tyler Shough will have no shortage of weapons. Now, it’s on the second-year quarterback to make the jump from a rookie sensation to a superstar in the league. The offseason additions, but particularly Jordyn Tyson, will help enable him and give him consistent and explosive options.
