Jordyn Tyson hasn’t been in New Orleans for three months and he and Tyler Shough are already forming chemistry. New Orleans Saints fans can’t wait to see the connection on the field. The connection off the field is already forming.
Quarterback and wide receiver developing chemistry has the potential to translate to the field. That relationship helps communication throughout the week and during the game. We see blowups weekly in the NFL. A strong relationship helps teammates avoid those type of moments and bounce back from them when it happens. Shough and Tyson are hanging out often, so hopefully they develop that resilience needed.

Tyler Shough stepping right in as the leader the Saints need
Only time will tell whether or not this bonding translates to the field. We don't need to see any results to see this is a good example of leadership. Kool-Aid McKinstry spoke about doing the same thing for younger guys earlier this offseason. McKinstry tied that directly to stepping up as a leader. Shough didn't do it verbally, but that doesn't change the leadership component of it.
This has become common for Shough. The leadership hasn't always come in the form of invitations. Erik McCoy spoke about how leadership is one of the biggest areas of growth he's seen from Shough this offseason. McCoy pointed to a time where the offense was having a rough period and Shough had the team start from the top in Louisiana heat. That stuck with McCoy.
As the franchise quarterback, you want to see this from Shough. You want to see him taking command of the huddle and becoming more vocal. You want to see him push his teammates and demand exellence when it's more comfortable to just move to the next rep. You want to see him take the young rookie who is new to the team and make him feel welcomed consistently.
These are things you'd want out of your franchise QB, but you may not expect Shough to pick them up so quickly. He has and the Saints will likely be better for it. He's put on a masterclass of being a franchise quarterback off the field since being drafted.
