The New Orleans Saints were greatly outplayed by the Seattle Seahawks in their first road game, losing in an embarrassing fashion 44-13. The Saints are still on the hunt for their first victory as they fall to 0-3. There was no true player of the game, but New Orleans Saints rookie Quincy Riley had the most standout moment of the day.

Late in the 4th quarter, Quincy Riley delivered a nice hit on Seahawks running back George Holani, forcing a fumble that was recovered by the Saints. This play was one of the very few bright spots in a game that was ugly from start to finish.

After not seeing the field on defense in the first two games, Riley quickly proved that he can make an immediate impact, even with limited action. It only took less than 20 snaps for the rookie to force his first turnover. This highlighted his instincts and physicality, in which he displayed throughout training camp and the preseason.

Time for the Saints to unleash Quincy Riley

Riley was drafted by the Saints in 4th round of the 2025 NFL Draft, he spent six collegiate season at Middle Tennessee and Louisville. Riley was a special talent, known for his IQ, elite ball skills and versatility.  He was regarded as a true ball hawk, having a knack for making crucial plays and creating turnovers Riley finished his career with 159 tackles and 59 passes defensed, but the 15 interceptions on his resume stood out the most.

Riley had a strong 2025 preseason, making a compelling case for a key role in the team’s defensive rotation.  Riley flashed his physicality, awareness, and reliable presence in coverage. Over three preseason games, he finished with 15 tackles, 1 passed defensed, and a clutch 4th quarter interception to seal the game.

Saints cornerback Isaac Yiadom has struggled in the first three games of the season, currently graded near the bottom of the league amongst cornerbacks.  His inconsistent play has caused concerns within the secondary, as opposing quarterbacks often target his side. His performance has become a liability, and the Saints should consider getting Riley more looks.
