Dez Bryant is clearly a fan and believer of Shedeur Sanders. That's fine. It's also clear, however, that he doesn't watch the New Orleans Saints if he believes there's a world where Sanders comes to New Orleans and replaces Tyler Shough.

Bryant responded to a social media post stating the Cleveland Browns were receiving offers for Sanders' services. It was also featured in the same post that the Browns don't see him as their answer. Bryant responded, "I think he’s a franchise QB and getting him out of Cleveland will be a plus for him… the Saints would be a great fit for him!"

It's heart warming that Saints legend Dez Bryant looks back on his two-day stretch in New Orleans so fondly that he wants Sanders to experience it as well. That comment, though, illustrates the belief in Sanders with the simultaneous lack of awareness of the Saints quarterback situation.

Saints aren't replacing Tyler Shough with anyone, let alone Shedeur Sanders

There isn't anyone who the Saints would replace Shough with that would actually be available. If one of the best quarterbacks in the league become available, there's a conversation to be had. The truth of the matter is, the Saints should be more than satisfied with their starting quarterback. Grabbing a quarterback from his draft class is just illogical.

Shough looks like the best quarterback from the class after their rookie year. What possible explanation could there be for trading for Sanders right now? The team showed their belief in Shough by building around him this offseason with a double decker worth of weapons.

Let's put it this way. If the Saints traded for Shedeur Sanders, he'd most likely be taking Spencer Rattler's job, not Tyler Shough.

Bryant isn't the first person to want a player to get out of Cleveland. He also played with Kellen Moore in Dallas, so there could be trust that this system would be beneficial to a quarterback's development. However, this is not the place for Sanders to become a franchise QB.

Bryant's comments are misguided, but the trust in quarterback development is still something to take away from his opinion. Instead of applying it to Sanders, we can apply it to Shough. Shough can develop into a franchise quarterback under Kellen Moore.
