The College Football Hall of Fame is something that some players dream of being in one day. For Mark Ingram, it's a dream no longer.

On Wednesday, the National Football Foundation announced the 2026 class and included the former New Orleans Saints running back, who attended the University of Alabama from 2008-2010. While in Tuscaloosa, Ingram became the first Alabama player to win the Heisman Trophy. Ingram accumulated 3,261 rushing yards, 42 touchdowns (which was a school record until 2020), and one national championship in his three years with the school.

Ingram took to social media to express his gratitude. "All glory to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the platform, the ability, and the strength to walk this journey. Nothing I’ve accomplished is possible without Him," Ingram said on X. "Thankful for my family, teammates, coaches, Alabama, and everyone who believed in me along the way. This honor represents far more than just me — it’s everyone who has impacted my life and my journey. This is for us."

The Saints Ring of Honor should be in Mark Ingram's future

Mark Ingram's college stats led him to be a first-round pick in the National Football League. While he did have a respectable career in the NFL, the Pro Football Hall of Fame isn't in his cards. The Saints' Ring of Honor, however, is well within his reach.

Ingram would spend 12 years in the NFL, with most of it in the Crescent City. His time in New Orleans came to a close in 2019, but he made a return to the Saints midway through the 2021 season. That return allowed Ingram to set the franchise record in rushing touchdowns.

Ingram is for sure a lock for the Saints' ring of honor, and it'll be a great day in the Superdome when the ceremony happens. The former franchise leader in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns meant a whole lot to the team in the city, so it's really only a matter of time until that particular announcement is made.
