Well, it looks like former New Orleans Saints quarterback Jake Haner isn't quite done with the NFL just yet. First reported by NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the former 2023 fourth-round pick has found a new home with the New York Giants.

It's Haener's second team since leaving New Orleans, having spent time with the Kansas City Cheifs earlier this offseason. A player who's never had people question his determination, a reunion with the Saints has unfortunately not been in the cards. However, due to the signing, there will also be a reunion of sorts, with Jameis Winston serving as the Giants' backup quarterback.

With there now being two former Saints in their QB room, it's clear that the Giants are trying to do something different in the first year under John Harbaugh. Maybe he's trying to mimic New Orleans in a way, because just like the Giants, the Saints also have their own young QB to take care of: Tyler Shough. No matter how you look at it, though, Haener popping up in the news this way is a reminder of how far the QB room has come.

The Saints have come a long way QB-wise since 2023

Back when Jake Haener was drafted, the Saints still had Derek Carr running the show. That was just the start of the whole fiasco, and the team and their fans were expecting it to be the new normal. Yet to show themselves were the shadows that had defined that era of Saints football and the light that's now come after it.

With highs and lows that would make a roller coaster fanatic say "no way," the stretch from 2023 to 2024 had some of the most frustrating moments the franchise has seen in some time. From one player caught on a hot mic nearly cursing out another to legit Super Bowl conversations, it's one that the Who Dat Nation has to be glad is in the past.

That ride would end in 2025, with the Carrs' sudden retirement. The Saints quickly had to turn around and at that time only had two young QBs on the team: Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough.

But we know how that went, and luckily it couldn't have gone better. New Orleans now (likely) has a franchise guy now in Shough, something they've been trying to find since 2023, when they signed and drafted a QB in the same offseason. In the present day, it's really looking like that the fans will have to get on another roller coaster soon.

Hopefully this time, it's a good one.
