First Saints injury report for Week 15 is encouraging, despite Derek Carr's injury
Injuries have defined the 2024 season of the New Orleans Saints, with the team seemingly losing a key player each week. Most recently, starting quarterback Derek Carr suffered another major injury, fracturing in left hand in the team’s Week 14 win. Now, the veteran quarterback will be sidelined for his second stint of the year, and his season is possibly over.
Despite that news, the Week 15 injury report for New Orleans is one of the most promising yet. It’s not long, and it’s also not filled with key players.
Saints Week 15 injury report
Player (Position) | Injury | Wednesday’s practice status |
---|---|---|
Derek Carr | Left hand / Concussion | Did not practice |
D’Marco Jackson | Ankle | Did not practice |
Alvin Kamara | Illness | Did not practice |
Juwan Johnson | Foot | Limited practice |
Bub Means | Ankle | Limited practice |
Tanoh Kpassagnon | Achilles | Full practice |
A pessimist could say the only reason this injury report isn’t long or filled with key players is because many of New Orleans’ starters are already on injured reserve. There’s certainly some truth to that, with guys like Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, Paulson Adebo, and Taysom Hill out, in addition to Derek Carr. However, the key players that are on the active roster appear to be healthy.
The one name that really pops out on the injury report is Alvin Kamara. The star running back missed Wednesday’s practice with an illness. However, the team made it clear the hope is that he can return tomorrow. If we know anything about the star running back, it’s that we can expect him to be playing in Sunday’s game. This season, he has already played through broken ribs, a broken hand, and an injured hip. Appearing in every game this season, it’ll take a lot to keep him sidelined.
All in all, the Saints are healthy, relative to the guys on the active roster. That should make a difference for the offensive line, who seemingly lost a player every week. In Week 14, the starting unit was whole for the first time in a long time, but they struggled a bit. With another week of practice back together, they should be able to put together a better performance. It’ll be needed with a young quarterback under center.
