First Saints injury report for Week 14 is great news for the New Orleans offense
The biggest storyline for the New Orleans Saints this season has been injuries. The team has seen several key players suffer major injuries. Derek Carr spent time sidelined, nearly all of the offensive linemen have dealt with something throughout the year, Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and Paulson Adebo are all currently on injured reserve, and Taysom Hill just tore his ACL.
While every team deals with injuries, and sports often like to take a no-excuses approach, it’d be foolish not to admit injuries had a role in the Saints being 4-8. However, going into Week 14, New Orleans is set to get some promising players back. That was evident in the first injury report for the week.
Saints Week 14 injury report
Player (Position) | Injury | Wednesday’s practice status |
---|---|---|
Taysom Hill | Knee | Did not practice |
Cesar Ruiz | Concussion | Did not practice |
Nick Saldiveri | Knee | Did not practice |
Juwan Johnson | Foot | Limited practice |
Erik McCoy | Groin | Limited practice |
Bub Means | Ankle | Limited practice |
Foster Moreau | Shoulder | Limited practice |
Lucas Patrick | Calf | Limited practice |
Tanoh Kpassagnon | Achilles | Full practice |
Tyrann Mathieu | Forearm | Full practice |
Kendre Miller | Hamstring | Full practice |
Pete Werner | Hand | Full practice |
While the report is lengthy, with 12 players listed, only three guys missed practice on Wednesday and one of them was Taysom Hill— that was expected. The other nine statuses are extremely promising for Sunday.
The most noteworthy updates are for Erik McCoy and Lucas Patrick. The two veteran interior offensive linemen have each missed numerous games this season, but they both appear on track to return for Sunday’s game in New York. Their presence will make a big difference for the offense.
Unfortunately, it’s always one step forward and three steps back for the Saints. While McCoy and Patrick are tracking well, Cesar Ruiz and Nick Saldiveri are not. Both missed practice on Wednesday, and it’d be on theme for this horrible season if they missed Sunday’s game as New Orleans welcomed two other linemen back.
Beyond the offensive line, the Saints are close to welcoming back several players. Second-year running back Kendre Miller is ready to return from his second stint on injured reserve, and rookie receiver Bub Means is also making his way back from injured reserve.
Tanoh Kpassagnon, who injured his Achilles in the offseason, also seems close to be activated. This will be his second week of practice, and the team could get him back on the field before the year is over.
