Kendre Miller has the talent to be a star for the New Orleans Saints, but he hasn’t shown it yet due to injuries. Miller has played just 14 games in his two year career, 41% of his possible appearances.
However, tides are seemingly turning in 2025. He has shined so far in training camp, showing off his elusiveness and smoothness in drills. In addition, he says he’s as healthy as he’s ever been. Miller putting together a healthy 2025 season is paramount to the Saints success.
Miller has dealt with a variety of injuries in his short career so far. This includes his hamstring, knee, ankle and even a concussion. He hasn’t been 100% healthy in the league, until now. Miller gave the media an insight into his health after training camp.
Kendre Miller is finally feeling fully healthy
“I feel normal now.” Miller said, “This is the most healthy I’ve been since I’ve been in the NFL”.
This is welcomed news for Saints fans, as injuries have been a hurdle Miller just hasn't been able to get over. Miller staying on the field would benefit Alvin Kamara. Kamara is 29 years old so reducing the mileage on his legs and allowing him to be the change of pace back would be his best role. Miller can take a majority of the runs inside the tackles to free up Kamara for more explosive opportunities.
Another key factor that could impact Miller is Kellen Moore. Miller and Dennis Allen clearly had a fractured relationship. Allen put Miller on injury reserve in the middle of last season which was widely believed to be unnecessary.
The change at head coach gives Miller a fresh start. Additionally, there has been a lot of excitement built around the benefit of Moore's system on Kamara. The Saints will use multiple runners, so that trickles down to the other running backs as well. Moore gives the third year back a much better chance to succeed and thrive in the Saints offense.
The run game needs to be strong for the Saints offense to succeed. Tyler Shough or Spencer Rattler are battling to be the starter in 2025, both are inexperienced. If the rushing attack is non existent then defenses can key in on defending the pass. This will be detrimental, causing the young quarterbacks to make mistakes. The Saints must avoid being one dimensional on offense and Miller has a big role in preventing that.
