Drew Brees found another way to prove doubters wrong during his Saints HOF induction
Drew Brees spent his entire career proving people wrong. As a quarterback that’s listed as 6-feet tall, probably generously, people doubted he’d be able to last in the NFL. He had a legendary 20-year career. After injuring his shoulder in his final season with the Chargers, many thought his career was over. However, he signed with the New Orleans Saints, set numerous records, won a Super Bowl, and became one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
The Saints recently honored Brees, inducting him into the team’s Hall of Fame. While New Orleans’ performance in the game against the Denver Broncos didn’t honor Brees, the legendary quarterback still found a way to do something impressive on Thursday night.
In the days leading up the game, Brees sent out a message to Saints fans informing them he wanted to do his legendary chant with everyone in the Superdome during his halftime ceremony. Detailing the back and forth he’d do with fans in the video, the clip went viral, as everyone joked there’s no way the stadium would be able to pull that off.
In fairness to Drew Brees, and Saints fans, some valid concerns were raised. The chant is lengthy, wordy, and requires a lot of memory and coordination. With the way stadiums are set up, the odds of the chant going smoothly weren’t great.
However, that only put Brees in a familiar position: being doubted. Like he did all throughout his career, he proved doubters wrong, leading the stadium in the chant and creating a very cool moment.
Brees, is incredible, and he has always been able to lead a group of people to a common goal. That’s why he was inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame, and he used the moment to remind everyone of that. Unfortunately, the Saints didn’t win again on Thursday.
