The New Orleans Saints vs Los Angeles Chargers debate that never was has finally been settled. Chargers fans don't get to claim Drew Brees. Brees ended the debate once and for all during an appearance on Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce's podcast.
The conversation only came up because Jason Kelce asked Brees if he had to go into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a member of a specific team. Brees swiftly replied, "It's Saints obviously. There's no question."

Saints fans have been telling Chargers fans to stop claiming Drew Brees
If you don't listen to anyone, listen to Drew Brees. There wasn't even a second thought before Brees made that statement. It's not even a conversation. The thing about it is you don't go into the Hall of Fame as a member of a particular team. With that answer, Brees just let it be known he isn't straddling the fence. Drew Brees is a Saint.
Even typing that last sentence felt a bit odd, because it shouldn't really need to be said. In recent years, it feels like that's been lost on certain Chargers fans. In his retirement years, the Chargers have tried to claim Brees randomly. They did it when he was announced as a finalist for the Hall. This didn't seem to be the tone while Brees played, but it seems they want to hop on the bandwagon of his legacy now.
Brees did get drafted by the Chargers and spend his first five years with them, but he spent the next 15 years in New Orleans. That's triple the amount of time he played in San Diego. Brees rose to prominence as one of the best quarterbacks in league history due to what he did with the Saints
Dan Fouts was the one who knocked on Brees' door to let him know that he was going to be inducted in the Hall of Fame. Even a Chargers legend being the one to pass along the information isn't enough to sway the teams into split custody.
At the end of the day though, Brees is an NFL legend and a Saints legend. The tone in which Brees gave his answer told you everything you needed to know
