Drew Brees is returning to the television screen. Earlier this week, the New Orleans Saints legend future Hall of Fame QB signed on as a weekly contributor on ESPN's First Take. It didn't take Brees long to make a splash.

The deal is reportedly non-exclusive, according to Barret Media. This allows Brees to be on call for one of the Netflix Christmas Day games, along side play-by-play announcer Noah Eagle. For ESPN, Brees is just the latest addition in a series of moves they've made over the past few months, as they have signed the likes of former Panther's QB and NFL MVP Cam Newton to a new contract.

For the Saints legend, it's a return to the television studio, having previously spent a year with NBC back in 2021. With NBC, he contributed to their Football Night in America program while also working select college and NFL games in the booth. This move is also after Brees appeared on FOX Sports this past weekend as an analyst for their pregame show. However, per the network, the appearance was a one time thing.

On his first day on the job, Drew Brees made a splash

On Tuesday, Drew Brees made his first appearance on the show, reviewing parts of the last weekend of NFL play with Shae Cornette and Stephen A. Smith. Pretty quickly, the Saints legend said his first hot sports opinion on ESPN. "Hey, I respect Philly, they're finding ways to win games, but I just can't stand that offense," Brees said. "It's the most boring offense. I'm sorry, but it is."

He followed that up by calling the NFC East the toughest division in the league. That seemed to shock Stepen A. Smith even more, who just asked 'really?!". In response, Brees decided to call-out the cowboys top receiver. "Let's see how it (the season) plays out. But hey, if Ceedee Lamb could catch post route in week one then the Cowboys wouldve had them beat."

Brees also said that Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love one of his favorite young players to watch in the league today. "His big arm, the way the run the offensive scheme, the weapons that they have in the vertical passing game, the way they attack the middle with the tight ends, I love Jordan Love and the Packers."
