Drew Brees accidentally exposes the Saints offense's biggest flaw

Drew Brees is a believer in the New Orleans Saints, and even thinks they can end their playoff drought. However, as Brees was explaining his belief in the team's 2025 outlook, he accidentally exposed the biggest limiting factor the offense, Spencer Rattler and/ or Tyler Shough are still relative unknowns.

Many will heave negative statements, but unknown is the most neutral stance you can take. It also feels pretty accurate. Neither quarterback has shown much yet. Remaining optimistic is taking a wait and see approach. It appears this is where Brees lands right now.

It's not what Brees said. It's more of what he was unable to say that truly drove the point home. When it came to Rattler, all Brees said Rattler "is getting his opportunity with the Saints." However, Brees had a lot to say when it came to the rest of the team.

The Saints roster around Spencer Rattler is underrated

"I think top to bottom the Saints roster is really really strong."

Brees didn't stop there either. He broke it down to units to praise the team. On the offensive side of the ball, Brees called the offensive line one of the best in football, and lauded the duo of Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed for their explosiveness.

It should come as no surprise that Brees had glowing remarks for Alvin Kamara. Actually, he kept it pretty light on that day. Brees called Kamara "one of the most dynamic running backs, who can do everything for you." If there's anyone who knows what Kamara can do for an offense, it's Drew Brees.

Brees pointed out the defensive leadership, but he was relatively short on that side of the ball as well. That makes sense because that's where the questions come into play as well. There's no question how he feels about the offense.

Injuries significantly hampered the 2024 offense, and it can be easy to forget that. There is talent on this team. If there was a more proven quarterback leading the unit, that would probably be discussed more. You begin to go through the unit, and it's clear if the Saints get good quarterback play the team will surprise some people. They even have a good chance to validate Brees' confidence.
