The chatter around Chris Olave was loud this week. Trade talks around the New Orleans Saints wide receiver have been present, but it was at its loudest after Olave's struggles last week.Against the Chicago Bears, he played like he heard all the noise and turned it into fuel.
Olave had his best game of the season in Week 6, but it would never be looked at that way because of some crucial missed opportunities. He took those away this game, and now looks like Olave is building up momentum. That's a sharp turn from how he was being discussed this week.
Olave once again reached 98 yards through three quarters. A lot of that was on the last drive of the first half. Spencer Rattler hit Olave in the deep middle of the field for 57 yards. The duo closed out the drive with a 21 yard touchdown on an in breaking route. Once again, he failed to cross the century mark.
Chris Olave's day was reflective of the Saints' offensive output
Olave had two touchdowns on the day. They were the Saints' only two scores of the game. It was his first game of his career with two touchdowns. Unfortunately, that was a small part of the matchup. The two scores were at the end of the first half and the first drive in the second half.
Olave's second touchdown was from 14 yards out. The three catches were half of his receptions and 94 percent of his yards.
The Saints didn't do much outside of those two drives. Rattler turned over the ball four times. The team struggled to run the football or protect along the offensive line. It was truly an ugly showing that had a momentary glimmer of hope. That glimmer was Olave's two touchdowns. Instead of building to anything bigger, the momentum from those drives fleeted quickly
