The 2024 season was supposed to be a breakout year for New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave. Entering the season, he was very open about his goal to establish himself as one of the top receivers in the league. Unfortunately, the season didn’t play out that way for him.
Olave ended up playing just eight games, catching 32 passes for 400 yards and one touchdown. However, he missed the other 10 games of the season after suffering two concussions within a month of each other. That led to the young wideout being sidelined and taking time to meet with specialists.
Now, with the team in the offseason, the young wideout is updating fans on his health. With the entire NFL world in New Orleans for Super Bowl 59, Olave recently spoke with theTimes-Picayune and let everyone know that he is now 100%.
"I'm 100%, man. Like I said, I don't really have symptoms with the concussion. I feel good. I'm making sure that I'm building my body stronger and I'm just trying to get right."Chris Olave (Times-Picayune)
Chris Olave is 100% after multiple concussions in 2024
The concussions this season were especially concerning, because Olave has a history of concussions dating back to his time at Ohio State. That’s why the team opted to keep him sidelined, even once he was cleared later in the season. With New Orleans out of playoff contention, it didn’t make sense to put Olave at risk.
As far as sustaining the concussions, Olave just feels that he’s been unlucky in those situations. That certainly seems to be the case, because Olave’s injuries came on relatively routine plays for a receiver.
That’s why it makes sense that he’s focused on building his body and getting stronger. If Olave can stay on the field, he will be an elite weapon for the Saints, and will continue to elevate the team’s offense.
