The New Orleans Saints are 35 days away from their first game of the year against the Arizona Cardinals. We continue the countdown to Saints kickoff by taking a look back at Chris Ivory's 35-yard touchdown against the Carolina Panthers.
Ivory dashed through the offensive line and easily made it to the second level. The safety didn't have any luck either. Ivory ran right past the Panthers defender and made it to the end zone untouched.
Robinson joined the team as an undrafted free agent. He was one of many undrafted gems the Saints found. His time didn't last long, but Robinson had more than a couple highlight moments. This highlight came in the Saints 2011 season finale.
Chris Ivory flashed talent during his brief run with the Saints
Reminiscing over Chris Ivory isn't for the casual fan. That is a name only lifelong, die hard Saints fans would know. He didn't spend a long time with the team. His sting in New Orleans only lasted three years and a total of 24 games, but the talent was visible.
Ivory showed good vision, a strong burst and some power. Unfortunately, only playing 6 games in each of his last two seasons was an indicator of Ivory's time in New Orleans coming to an end soon. Some of that was due to injuries, and some weren't.
Ivory's game against the Panthers was an example of the heights the running back could reach. He finished the contest with 127 rushing yards on 19 attempts. That was the most yards of the season for Ivory. It wasn't the most of his career, however.
Ivory reached 158 rushing yards during his rookie season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. No one saw Ivory coming. Injuries to Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas gave Ivory an unexpected opportunity. It resulted in Ivory leading the Saints in rushing in 2010.
After leaving New Orleans, Ivory racked up at least 800 yards in each of his three years with the Jets, culminating in his only career 1000 yard season.
