The NFL is full of talent at the edge rusher position, 18 players finished with 10 or more sacks on the year in 2025.  Amongst them was New Orleans Saints edge rusher Chase Young, who tallied 10.5 sacks in just 12 games. Somehow, he didn't even get the slightest consideration as a top 10 player at his position.

Young is coming off a career high season in sacks, but NFL executives aren’t quite overreacting to one really good season.  ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler surveyed the NFL executives, coaches, and scouts across the league to get their opinions and insight on the leagues best pass rushers.

Not only was Young left off the top 10 edge rusher list, he wasn’t included as an honorable mention, and didn’t even receive a single vote. That's what was surprising, not him not making the list. These results indicated that Young needs to prove a little more to receive higher recognition.

Chase Young has still has more to prove to crack NFL’s top pass rushers list

Chase Young finally put together a season where he tallied double digit sacks in a season.  The biggest concern surrounding him entering his second season with New Orleans wasn't his ability to generate pressure, but finishing plays taking down the quarterback down for sacks.

Young finally brought out the potential that NFL scouts were raving about coming out of college.  He graded out with an overall 78.0 PFF grade which was 20th amongst edge rushers while also displaying his dominance as a pass rusher. He posted a spectacular 86.3 pass rush grade. That was the 9th best in the league, showcasing why the Saints signed him to a lucrative three year deal.

Young had a fantastic 2025 campaign, but it’s understandable why the higher ups around the league left him off the list. The edge rusher position has so many established pass rushers on that have put together multiple seasons.

Additionally. there several young players who are quickly emerging as dominant pass rushers.  If Young can put together another season of the caliber from last year, his name will likely receive votes and his name will appear on this list going into the 2027 season.
