Chris Olave should be one of the happiest New Orleans Saints if the team brings in Carnell Tate and not just because he'll have another Ohio State Buckeye in the receiving corps with him.

The New Orleans are bringing Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate for a visit this week, per NewOrleans.Football's Nick Underhill. It'll be the second time this offseason the two sides have met. The Saints had dinner with a long list of Buckeyes the night before their pro day.

The team has a well documented history with Ohio State players, and they've long found success with dipping into that pool. They can only hope Tate reaches the level of success of previous Buckeyes turned Saints. The Saints two best receivers of the last decade came from Ohio State, Michael Thomas and Chris Olave.

Chris Olave and Carnell Tate would take the pressure off each other

We’ve seen wide receivers hit the ground running immediately recently. Receivers like Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase were one of the best receivers in the league as rookies. It's more examples that make it seem like being an impact player immediately is the norm.

Then, you look at Marvin Harrison Jr. He's still looking to put it together in Year 3. It doesn't always click immediately, and Olave would give Tate a chance to grow in the league without pressure. The same thing happened for Michael Thomas during his rookie year.

Jefferson was mentioned earlier, and he’s a great example for the situation Tate would step into. Whe Jefferson joined the Vikings, Adam Thielen was their top receiving threat. They just traded Stefon Diggs, but Jefferson wasn’t expected to replace his production immediately.

That’s what happened and having Thielen there took the pressure off of the then rookie to have to give Minnesota 1400 yards. Thielen's presence also helped Jefferson reach that number as well.

Fast forward a few years, and Jefferson is the beneficiary of a young receiver. Jordan Addison hasn't reached 1000 yards yet, and the Vikings don't need him to. He takes attention away from Jefferson, so the Vikings' best player can eat.

The expectations for Tate would be higher, because he'd be a top 10 pick. He'd have to become more than just a diversion that opens up Olave. In Year 1, however, he can play that role early. That allows Olave to benefit from a young player defenses are certainly going to pay attention to.
