As the 2025 season in the National Football League enters its final stretch, the New Orleans Saints sit at 3-10. Despite having the worst record in recent memory, Cam Jordan says that team can't be give up on the season just yet.
The future hall of famer said that everyone on the team just loves football. "We're willing to grind for any win and all wins. In this game, you can't be complacent at all with the 'alright, we're out of the playoff picture; where we at now?' and you see guys take plays off; you're not going to see that on our film," he said to the media. "Our silent tape speaks volumes for the men that are in this locker room."
The Saints' current record is the worst of Jordan's career, and it comes right after the worst season of Jordan's tenure. If they hope to avoid having the worst record in the past 20 years, they'll have to prove on the field that what Jordan is saying isn't crazy talk.
The Saints are close to their worst record since 2005
Things might feel good in the locker room and in after-practice press conferences, but the fact remains that the Saints not only have one of the worst records in the league but also their worst record since 2005, which saw them finish 3-13. Furthermore the Saints have the potential to outdo themselves in the worst way possible. If they fail to win a game for the rest of the season, 2025 would technically be worse due to the added 17th game.
However, the chances of the Saints doing that are slim. Each game for the past few weeks now, each part of the team has improved, especially the defense, which ranks 12th in total yards allowed. Defensive coordinator Brandon Staley says that the improvement is because of Moore and the front office. "These guys are fantastic; we're very fortunate with this group: Mickey, Jeff, Kai, Randy, Kellen... they're wired the right way." He said to the media. "When you've got guys wired the right way, you will see the improvement."
The Saints have shown high highs in the brief time with Tyler Shough at quarterback. Now they have to show they can maintain it. Instead of falling to a low last seen two decades before, the Saints have the chance to actually improve on last year's record in Year 1 of the Kellen Moore era. They'll need to win three of the last four to close the season.
