Its’s no secret Cam Jordan is nearing the end of an illustrious NFL career. The veteran defensive end has spent his entire 14-year career with the New Orleans Saints, and its very clear that road could be coming to an end after this season. That’s why Jordan made Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans’ last home game of the season, a special one.
The veteran defensive end had a lot of his family in attendance, and spent time with them down on the field prior to the game. From photo ops to running the field with his son, it was evident Jordan was soaking up the moment.
Then, the game had to be played. It didn’t go the way the Saints wanted, but Jordan had some impactful moments, recording three total tackles, two for a loss, and a sack.
Following the game, Jordan spent a lot of time soaking it all in. He walked around the stadium, signing a ton of autographs for fans, and he remained on the field with his family hours after the game ended.
Cam Jordan cherishes final Saints’ home game of the season
Prior to the game, Jordan told New Orleans Football’s Mike Triplett that he was going to appreciate Sunday’s game as if it was his last home game with the Saints, but admits he has done that the last couple of years. Unclear if his time with the team will end after this season, Jordan made it clear that he intends to play next season.
He further reiterated that after the game, saying he’s not shutting the door himself, the franchise will have to shut the door. While Jordan currently bleeds black and gold, he blantly said he’d bleed different colors if he has to.
This puts the franchise in a tough situation. Jordan has one more season on his contract after this year, and he has a cap hit of $14.924 million. With the Saints hiring a new head coach, and headed towards a rebuild, moving on from Jordan would be a logical move.
Everyone sees that, including Jordan. That’s why he’s been embracing every moment, because he knows the Week 18 game that’s coming up could be his final game with the Saints.
