Cam Jordan is due for a new contract. In a quick chat with TMZ Sports, the New Orleans Saints defensive end said that he just wants to be valued in 2026.

In the interview, the Saints legend said that he knows he could be asking for a lot of money. “If you get a 10-sack season, if I were 26, I’d be asking for top dollar,” Jordan said. “Things I’ve never asked for is top dollar. All I’ve ever asked for is to be valued.”

Jordan's last contract had him earning just $6.02 million before incentives in 2025. His play on the field last season, which was his best since 2022, earned him a raise. Per Spotrac, his average annual value is just under $7 million at $6.8 million. That should be well in the Saints' budget this year, and the 15-year NFL veteran should return to New Orleans in 2026.

The Saints would be fools to let Cam Jordan walk

If Cam Jordan plays anywhere else besides New Orleans next year, it could break the heart of the Who Dat Nation. Stats on the field and accolades earned aside, he is someone who has become a true New Orleanian since being drafted. Jordan has also started his foundation and multiple programs throughout the community.

A team captain for the past 10 consecutive seasons, Jordan is one of the heartbeats of the locker room. Seeing him play for a team not named the Saints would be akin to seeing Emmitt Smith in a Cardinals uniform or Jerry Rice in a Seahawks uniform. It would just be plain weird, not to mention potentially damaging to the team culture, to see Jordan in a different uniform.

Then there's the stats. If he didn't produce, it wouldn't matter how weird it is to see. Throughout his time in New Orleans, Jordan has also etched his name in the record books, gathering 132 career sacks, which is 17th all-time in the NFL. Also, it goes without saying that those 132 sacks are also the most in team history.

It's not just career numbers. That could be seen as just another form of nostalgia and sentimentality. Despite being one of three players remaining from the 2011 first-round draft class, he had one of the best seasons in recent memory in 2025 with 47 tackles, 10.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. The Saints would be fools to let Cam Jordan walk. Hopefully, they're able to agree to terms on a new contract.
