Cam Jordan has never wavered on what he's desired from the New Orleans Saints. The sentiment has always that Jordan has always wanted to be with the Saints as long as the Saints wanted him, and he just wanted to be valued.

Reporter Kristian Garic shared a message from the edge rusher about the pending contract situation. The message read, "I’ve stated my intentions multiple time’s as season ended. I want to feel valued. So Good news would be an offer from the showing my value on the tm after leading the tm in sacks. As that’s a metric that ppl love to use."

"As that's a metric that ppl love to use." Leading the team in sacks is certainly a bargaining chip, a fact that isn't lost on Jordan. He's a fantastic run defender, but sacks tend to be the thing that bolsters the contract the most. Jordan did that at a high level in 2025.

It's hard to nail down what the Saints respecting Cam Jordan looks like

While Jordan has been specific, that specificity is still extremely vague. Respect in a negotiation can be hard to narrow down. There are some obvious interpretations of the notion. Jordan isn't looking to break the bank, and the Saints shouldn't expect to give him pennies.

Respect is interchangeable with paying a player what he's owed. One could even argue it's a dressed up way of saying, "I want to be paid my worth," which is what every negotiation comes down to.

The question always comes back to what does that even mean? Khalil Mack received a one year deal for $18 million. Is that the deal Jordan feels is comparable for him? These are questions that are impossible to answer for sure without being in the room, but it'd be understandable if the Mack contract was the ballpark of negotiations.

After the season, Jordan said, ""The Saints have done nothing but show that they want me to be here. Now, at what price? Some would say half off, this last year. Can't do that again." Noted. When the season was all done, Jordan made about $8 million. With that math, it wouldn't be surprising to see him looking for a deal that's around $15-16 million.

Jordan's value is higher than it's been in the last three seasons. He recorded more sacks last season that the previous two years combined. The problem is Jordan saying it's a product of being used correctly and the team likely saying it could be a one off. A meet in the middle could another contract with sack number incentives and a higher base salary. It could help the Saints feel safeguarded, while Jordan still sees a much higher starting point.

From the message Jordan sent Garic, it's clear Jordan wants to be a Saint. I know, breaking news. It's also clear he's comfortable moving on if he doesn't get what he feels he deserves, whatever that exactly means.
