The New Orleans Saints decided to pack the trenches after taking a wide receiver in the first round, selecting Georgia defensive tackle Christen Miller. It's already making rounds around the league, most notably among key free agents like Cam Jordan.

Jordan, who is currently testing free agency for the first time in his career, was among the first current or former Saints to react to the pick. "A DT!" he said on X. "Got a biiig dog to ride with my familia, Bresee!!"

With Jordan's comments also in the wake of Mickey Loomis' own comments during his pre-draft press conference, it makes a return to the Crescent City just a bit more appealing for the Saints' all-time sack leader. By selecting Miller, the Saints really got two birds with one stone: an elite defensive tackle and an elite defensive end. Two pillars for the d-line were possibly added, all in just one draft pick.

Saints give a boost to their defensive line with their second draft pick

The New Orleans Saints needed to add a defensive lineman in the draft, with their run defense being bottom of the barrel. Christen Miller should be able to help them out of said barrel. He's coming off of one of the best seasons in his career, one in which he earned first-team All-SEC honors.

Heavy on the pursuit, Miller's run-defense might have been the thing that improved the most last year. It even stood out when compared to his peers, as he had one of the highest run-stop grades of the entire draft class. However, the Saints will have to help him develop as a pass rusher. His power alone won't be able to help him reach the quarterback in the NFL.

Thankfully he'll have plenty of mentors in New Orleans that will help the new draft pick, like Chase Young, Devon Godchaux, or Nathan Shepard. Maybe even someone who has 132 sacks in their career, like Cam Jordan. That is, if he decides to re-sign with the team.
