There aren’t many people as loyal to the New Orleans Saints as Cam Jordan. That’s why it made sense he took a pay cut to remain with the team for one more season. There also aren’t many people as optimistic about the Saints as Jordan. That’s why it’s no surprise that the veteran defensive end has been vocal about the team’s ability to contend next season, despite New Orleans coming off a 5-12 year.

The Saints had an abysmal season in 2024, which resulted in Dennis Allen being fired midway through the season. Additionally, the franchise hasn’t made the playoffs since 2020— Drew Brees’ last season. Despite all of that, Jordan is confident the team has a chance to get right back in the mix next season.

The Saints have a new coaching staff, led by Kellen Moore, and the ninth-overall pick in the 2025 Draft. However, those aren’t what Jordan believes will be the difference maker next season. In a recent appearance on Good Morning Football, the Saints legend argued that if New Orleans has health on its side, it can remind the league it’s a top-tier team.

Cam Jordan says Saints are still a top-tier team when healthy

Jordan cited the two impressive games the team played to start the season, before the lineup fell apart due to injuries. It’s the same rhetoric that Mickey Loomis has repeated throughout the offseason. While there is some truth to it, it’s not what fans want to hear. The what-if game doesn’t amount to real wins, so it’s often just a pointless exercise.

Additionally, the Saints had other issues besides health that led to their demise. Lack of depth was one of them, and it was exaggerated by the injuries. New Orleans has been working to improve that this offseason, because injuries are inevitable in football, so it’s best to be prepared for them.

Ultimately, the Saints will be laughed at whenever they bring up health, whether it’s true or not. The only way New Orleans can get the last laugh is to stay healthy during the season and win games.
