Senior Bowl practices begin on Tuesday, January 27 in Mobile, AL. The New Orleans Saints have shown an affinity for these prospects in recent years and could invest even more in 2026, as they have seven coaches on the staff. That's three more than any other team. Because of this, Saints fans should be tuned in as several players have the potential be repping the black and gold following the NFL Draft.
Below is a list of five prospects Saints fans should be watching ahead of the Senior Bowl. Obviously there are far more than five quality players, but these stand out as perfect fits for the team. Fans should keep an eye on numerous more prospects, but focus especially on these ones.
With that said, let’s get into the five prospects the Saints should be watching at the Senior Bowl.
Zion Young would be a spectacular pick for the Saints
Zion Young- Edge Rusher, Missouri
This edge rusher class is interesting because a vast majority of players thrive in either rushing the quarterback or defending the run, while struggling in the other. What makes Zion Young stand out is his prowess in both areas. He’s particularly effective as a run defender, using his strength to bully the opposing lineman, but has shown flashes of elite pass rush ability. Expect Young to impress and significantly raise his stock.
Lewis Bond- Wide Receiver, Boston College
Lewis Bond’s name has become buried in a deep wide receiver class. He’s a route technician who uses his short area quickness and IQ to create separation. He understands how to effectively stem a defender and gain leverage on them. Bond isn’t the most explosive athlete but has formidable vertical speed and can still make plays after the catch. The Senior Bowl often has a wide receiver dominate and rise up the rankings, don’t be surprised if Bond claims that title this year.
Lee Hunter- Defensive Tackle, Texas Tech
Someone who is 6-foot-3, 320 pounds shouldn’t move the way Hunter does. He has an explosive first step and excellent quickness that makes it challenging for linemen to stay with him. He creates outstanding penetration against the run, can consistently beat the opposition to a spot and be disruptive.
Hunter’s still developing as a pass rusher, but has moments of greatness where he’s nearly unblockable. His stock jumped after his stellar performance against Oregon and is likely to continue the trend during the Senior Bowl.
Gennings Dunker- Guard, Iowa
If a team is looking to build a culture, draft Gennings Dunker. He’s originally a farm kid, growing up in a small town in Illinois. He’s a former wrestler and brings those skills to the football field. He’s a mauler in the run game and looks to level the opponent on each snap. Dunker is still lacking in pass protection, but has the potential to develop it.
Jacob Rodriguez- Linebacker, Texas Tech
Jacob Rodriguez flew onto the radar with an outstanding 2025 campaign at Texas Tech. He showcased his versatility and to impact the game in several ways. Rodriguez showed off his spectacular instincts and ability to force takeaways. He will need to answer some questions about his athleticism in the Senior Bowl, but could be a major riser if he shines.
