Position battles are the highlight of training camp, and the 2026 New Orleans Saints training camp should be no different. Battles for the final wide receiver spot or Pete Werner vs Danny Stutsman at linebacker or even a kicker battle will be some of the most impactful parts of camp this year.Â
There are a few players going into a make or break camp where their job and possible roster spot is on the line. With the youth movement the Saints are currently pushing, all veterans have to be on alert.Â
The catalyst could be new additions or merely patience running thin. Regardless, the pressure is on these players to deliver in practice and preseason.Â

Peter Werner must fend off his heir apparent
The most pressure comes when your replacement is right in front of you, and that’s the situation Pete Werner finds himself in. It isn’t a matter of if Danny Stutsman sees the field but rather how often. He had a rotational role as a rookie, and could easily compete with Werner for a starting role in camp. Seeing that Stutsman has age, ceiling and compensation on his side, Werner will need a big camp and season to keep Stutsman off his heels.~ Darrion Gray
Davon Godchaux in prove it mode
Davon Godchaux is a name that hasn’t been talked about much this offseason, but he might be under more pressure than anyone else to prove it in training camp this year. With younger options (Christen Miller, Bryan Bresee) sounding better and better, Godchaux might find himself in less snaps come the regular season. Kendre Miller is going to stay healthy and is bound for a breakout season. Well, this is his final year to prove it as another injury-riddled season will likely result in him being cut. New Orleans Saints defensive edge rusher Tyree Wilson enters training camp under pressure to prove he can live up to his first round potential. After a disappointing start to his NFL career, he’ll need to show he can consistently generate pressure and earn a valuable role in the defensive line rotation.
