The Senior Bowl continues as day two is officially wrapped up. Certain prospects are quickly improving their stock in Mobile, AL and impressing scouts. New Orleans Saints fans should be heavily focused on the event as they have tons of staff and scouts at the event.
It’s a real possibility they have at least three prospects that played in Mobile on their roster next year. Saints fans should get ahead of the curve and familiarize themselves with the players.
More than just these four players impressed, but they stood out the most and are quickly making a name for themselves.
Jacob Rodriguez continues his impressive year
Jacob Rodriguez- Linebacker Pitt
Jacob Rodriguez is a big-play machine at linebacker. He shined at the Senior Bowl on Wednesday with two forced fumbles and an interception. This was a common scene during the season as Rodriguez tallied seven fumbles and four interceptions. Analysts had questions if he could translate to the NFL, but he is answering them with flying colors in Mobile. Rodriguez’s name is flying up draft boards, and it’s likely he could sneak into round two.
Malachi Fields- Wide Receiver, Notre Dame
Malachi Fields is a prototypical X receiver who uses his elite frame, 6’4”, 222 pounds, and strong hands to reel in catches. His impressive catch radius was on display when he made a diving catch downfield from Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green. Similar to Rodriguez, his stock currently sits at early day three but could easily move up into day two with another great performance.
Tyren Montgomery- Wide Receiver, John Carroll
Tyren Montgomery made this list yesterday by making his name known to scouts, but he still wasn’t thought of as a mid-round pick. However, today he began to enter his name in early/mid round conversations. He still has work to do to solidify his stock, but he’s on his way to being a highly drafted player.
Max Iheanachor- Offensive Tackle, Pitt
It’s challenging to be an offensive lineman in the Senior Bowl because a majority of the attention goes to defenders in one-on-ones. Regardless, Max Iheanachor has impressed and shut down opposing edge rushers. He’s only played football for five years, but is an impressive athlete and has surprisingly good technique. He could end up getting drafted on the first round in April if he continues to shine throughout the draft cycle.
