The New Orleans Saints season is winding down so more fans are beginning to look at potential prospects in April. The College Football Playoffs is an ideal place for that as some of the best players and top teams are competing.

The Playoffs start on Friday as the Alabama Crimson Tide travel to Norman, OK to face the Oklahoma Sooners. There are a number of prospects in this game who could make an impact on the Saints.

Below I have compiled two players from each team that Saints fans should be keeping their eyes on, both for this game and as a potential option come April.

Germie Bernard is a gamechanger for Alabama

Germie Bernard

The Saints need weapons for Tyler Shough and Alabama wide receiver Germie Bernard would fit perfectly. He’s the do-it-all player for the Crimson Tide. He can line up as an X, in the slot, or the backfield. Bernard is outstanding after the catch and is a great route runner. Watch for him to make plays in this game, but also as a potential Saints draft pick.

Kadyn Proctor (Projecting as a guard)

Don’t worry Saints fans, I’m not saying the Saints should draft Alabama left tackle Kadyn Proctor and keep him there. I believe he would be a guard at the next level. Proctor is a huge player, at 6’7”, 366 LBs and has immense power.  His foot speed is subpar, but he makes up for it with his strength. He’s an anchor of the Crimson Tide’s line and they have used him periodically in the backfield. He’s a fun offensive lineman who hasn’t given up a sack since week one.

R Mason Thomas

Oklahoma edge rusher R Mason Thomas is outstanding at putting pressure on the opposing quarterback. His explosiveness is off the charts and he’s got amazing flexibility to bend the edge. He is smaller at 6’2”, 249 LBs and does struggle against the run, but his impact on third downs is evident. Mason Thomas will have a major impact both in this game, and at the next level.

Deion Burks

Oklahoma wide receiver Deion Burks is small, 5’9”, 188 LBs, but is a dynamic, twitchy threat for the Sooners. He’s a great route runner and frequently makes people miss after the catch. Burks doesn’t lead the team with 513 yards receiving, but his impact on the game is undeniable.
