The NFL schedule will be released on Wednesday night. A few games have already been announced, such as the opening game of the season and international matchups
We already know who the New Orleans Saints are playing and where the games will be. The only thing we don't know is when. That'll be revealed Wednesday. As the schedule release approaches, which games should you circle on your calendar?
Kellen Moore’s first game
This is where it all begins. Saints fans have been clamoring for a change since before last season. Out with Dennis Allen, in with Kellen Moore.
Moore walks in as an exciting offensive mind that has everyone intrigued. Saints fans were duped by a strong start last year, so it’ll take more than one game to sell fans this year. Still, all eyes will be on how the team looks in their first outing. Moore’s tenure wont be made or broken in his first outing, but it’ll be a tone setter.
Saints first home game
This may align with the Moore’s first game, but it deserves its own distinction in case the Saints don’t start the season at home. Playing in the Caesars Superdome is its own experience. The team’s first contest in the Superdome will mark the first time the hometown fans will have the chance to embrace the new era and the first time the new era gets to embrace the hometown fans.
There’s a special connection between New Orleans and the Saints. The Saints are stepping into a new era with full force. There will be a new coach and quarterback. The fan base has been drug through the mud emotionally, and a fresh beginning is on the way. The first time they get to experience that will be a special moment for all parties involved.
Saints vs. Bears
The list revolves heavily around the change in regime, but that is the driving force during a transitional season. In this matchup, the Saints will be facing former coach, Dennis Allen. Allen joined the Bears as their defensive coordinator shortly after the season ended.
The Saints travel to the Windy City to face the Bears this season. The game will feature two hotshot first time head coaches, but angle Saints fans will paying attention to is can Moore outscheme Allen's defense.
Saints vs. Falcons
This is the only game on the schedule guaranteed to be intense. Moore comes over from the Philadelphia Eagles, so he knows about tense rivalries. Prior to last year, he was on the Cowboys side of that specific rivalry. Sean Payton and Dennis Allen swept the Saints’ heated rivals in their first year as head coach. Can Moore follow suit?
This matchup will be a showdown of young quarterbacks. Michael Penix Jr. will be leading the Falcons into battle, and the Saints will be led by Tyler Shough or Spencer Rattler. If it’s Shough, the matchup will have a combined 13 collegiate seasons between the quarterbacks alone.
