The Scouting Combine provided an opportunity for a deep tight end class to show their value to NFL teams. There were some impressive performances from players who weren't widely known prior to Indianapolis, and there were also some more popular names that delivered on expectations as well.

Tight end is a need for the New Orleans Saints this offseason, so they were definitely locked in. Juwan Johnson's future with the organization is uncertain as he’s set to enter free agency, and Taysom Hill and Foster Moreau have both been named as cut candidates. Due to that, adding a tight end is a must, and the best path for New Orleans to find one is in the draft.

Tight end prospects who improved their draft stocks at the Combine

Joshua Simon

Joshua Simon wasn’t a widely known prospect heading to Indianapolis. This didn’t stop him from turning heads. Simon ran the second quickest 40 among tight ends with a 4.65. He looked amazing while running drills. His route running was on full display, as his cuts were sharp and precise. Simon was sure-handed, never allowing a ball to drop once it touched his hands. Although he isn’t known for blocking he looked strong, pushing the sled back 10 yards. Simon showing out in every aspect will raise his stock significantly.

Mason Taylor

Mason Taylor didn’t run a 40-yard dash but shined while running drills. He made everything look effortless. He looked smooth while running routes. His best drill was during the gauntlet where he caught every pass while maintaining high speed. His blocking prowess was on full display as he pushed the sled farther than anyone. Taylor was already a highly talked about prospect but his stock is undoubtedly on the rise.

Thomas Fidone II

Thomas Fidone II proved that he was one of the most athletic tight ends. He put up the highest RAS score for the position group at 9.37 He showed his well rounded skill set, succeeding at any drill put in front of him. He didn’t make any mistakes, which separated him from a majority of the pack. The former Cornhusker isn’t among the top tight end prospects currently but certainly improved his stock.
