The New Orleans Saints are 4-7, but they’ll be looking for a third straight win on Sunday when they host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. This season hasn’t gone the way anyone in New Orleans wanted it to, with the team having a seven-game losing streak, and suffering several major injuries. Barring a historical turnaround, this will be the fourth straight season New Orleans misses the playoffs.

For as bad as things have been, there have still be a few shining moments, and people, for fans to celebrate this year. With that in mind, let’s take a look at three Saints that fans are thankful for.

Saints fans are thankful for Alvin Kamara

Alvin Kamara holds a special place in the heart of New Orleans’ fans, and he has repeatedly made it clear the feeling is mutual. Throughout this season, Kamara has continued to deliver for the franchise, and has embodied everything fans want from a team’s star player.

He’s on pace to have the most productive season of his career, and he’s doing that while playing through multiple significant injuries. Additionally, he became the franchise’s all-time leading rusher this season, so that shows how long he’s been around. With him recently signing a two-year extension, he’ll retire with the team as well.

Saints fans are thankful for Trevor Penning

At the start of the season, no one anticipated Trevor Penning being on these kind of lists. The third-year offensive lineman had moved from left to right tackle, and hadn’t given fans much to believe in. After a poor showing in the first preseason game, fans were certain he’d be a weakness for the team.

11 games into the season, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Penning has been healthy and consistent, finally tapping into the potential that made him a first-round pick. Now, there’s a belief he and Taliese Fuaga can hold the line down for years to come, so fans are thankful for Penning’s growth.

Saints fans are thankful for Darren Rizzi

Darren Rizzi isn’t a player, but he deserves to be on this list. Many fans are simply thankful for Rizzi because he replaced Dennis Allen. However, Rizzi has also reinvigorated the franchise, leading the team to two straight wins. He’s been leaning on his established veterans, and could be setting himself up to become the team’s next official head coach. However the rest of the season unfolds, fans are certainly thankful Rizzi brought a new life to the team.
